Interesting Facts of Giant Pandas
In 2009, when the staff of Shan Xi Fo Ping Nature Reserve were patrolling the hills, they discovered in a bamboo shrub a giant panda with brown hair growing where black hair should have been growing – this was a Brown Giant Panda. This was only the fifth Brown Giant Panda discovered since scientific records began. The scientific community still does not have a certain answer to why there are Brown Giant Pandas, but there are two views: the throwback theory and the genetic theory. The former argues that the brown hair is an ancestral characteristic, while the latter argues that it is due to homozygous recessive genes.
